Beard Care Tips with Leo

As a newfound beard wearer, I have been obsessing recently with my new face sweater. Because I'm a nice fella, I figured I would share a few tips to make your beard the best it can be. Here are my top tips for your best beard:

  1. Shampoo: Beards are made up of hair after all, therefore we should treat them as we would the hair on the top (or sides) of our hair. Using a professional shampoo, or best case scenario beard wash, will keep the beard itch at bay along with taming stray hairs. Massaging the skin also increases blood flow which has been linked to increased hair growth.
  2. Condition: Conditioning the hair will impart moisture and make the beard supple and manageable. It will also replace the oils that are stripped through washing.
  3. Blow dry: This step may not be requisite for every beard wearer, but it bares mentioning. Blow drying your beard will significantly decrease the beard itch while also making the beard lay in a desirable manner. A standard grooming brush is acceptable for the blow out, and you get bonus points for using a round brush!
  4. Beard products: Depending on the length of your beard, different products may be more suitable. There are balms and creams and oils galore, but the same basic purpose for a product is hydration and control. Selecting a product that will hydrate the hair and skin is key, and for longer beards, a balm may offer much needed control. Additionally, if you are a 'stache wearer, a wax product can tame and shape the hairs near the corner of your mouth.

Stay tuned for the next blog, where I will go more in depth into product selection, as well as what combs and brushes to use. Please give this a share and of course, hit me up for your beard maintenance needs.

What are some of your personal beard tips?

Thanks for pointing out that no matter what product we might try, beard oils or creams, they should be able to hydrate and control the beard. I will share this tip with my husband now that he told me that he wants to try growing his beard. He just wants to see if it will suit him now that he is in his 40s.

It really helped when you said that the products you should get for then beard would have to hydrate and control the oil for your stubble. I will keep that in mind when I buy my husband a handcrafted natural beard balm as a gift this weekend. He has been planning to grow one since last year, and gifting him a product that he can use will help him feel that I support him with this.

I'm glad that you talked that applying proper moisture for your beard could help provide healthiness. The other day, my cousin told me he is now considering getting his beard trimmed after a year without shaving. He asked if I had any idea where would be the best barbershop. Thanks to this informative article, I'll tell him that he can consult an authentic barber as they can provide more information about his ideal look.
